About the Film

The Story of
Twurt Chamberlain

Country Punk Black chronicles the musical journey of Twurt Chamberlain, a genre-bending singer-songwriter from Lexington, Mississippi, uncovering how his lived experiences have shaped his evolving sound. Backed by a soundtrack blending hip-hop, blues, and rock and roll, the film delves into his aspirations and inspirations.

A documentary exploring the intersections of Southern identity, race, and musical rebellion through the lived experiences of Black artists working within predominantly white, rural, and punk-country spaces. The film blends oral history, performance footage, and visual ethnography to challenge traditional boundaries of genre, representation, and cultural belonging.
